STREET STYLE: fashion weeks F/W '13

One of my favorite parts of fashion weeks is seeing what actual/normal people wear. Of course runway shows are awesome, but not everything models wear could always be "wearable" on a normal day to day basis, not to count that not all designs look as HOT as they do on models.

The way people mix and match tendencies or designs and put them together in their own way, in my perspective, is the best form of art.

If everyone wore clothes exactly the way designers proposed, the world would be full of uniforms and everyone would look the same.

Looking through Vogue, I chose the styles I liked the most at each of the fashion weeks.

pretty in spikes

I finally got my hands on this neck-candy!
I had been eyeing this pretty piece of jewelry at Jeweliq. I think their stuff is pretty cool and affordable. For example, this necklace (click here) is only $25, and it comes with matching earrings. I wasn't expecting the earrings to come with it so I took them as a bonus.

I love it and have worn it a couple of times so far. I have been getting into necklaces lately and started collecting quite a few. You might feel underdressed sometimes, but adding a necklace to your outfit seems to suddenly turn it into a whole new thing! Necklaces can turn a simple outfit into an edgy one, and I think this one really adds some spice to a subtle look.

Some of my other favorite pieces are (click on the links I have provided):
Turq Flora Bib (specially for spring and summer)

Which one do you like better?

I will try to post an outfit look with this necklace. I am seriously in love!

F/W '13 NYFW, part 2: NAILS

The last post summarized pretty much everything I liked from NYFW this time, outfit-wise. Now, I have also been looking at the nail-designs that have been chosen to go with the different outfits, and here is a selection of my favorite ones.

I chose the ones I thought were most unique and never seen on other seasons' runway shows.

Creatures of the Wind: This one was my favorite one. I will surely try this out SOON!

Prabal Gurung: Actually, nevermind, this one was my favorite design.

Rebecca Minkoff: This is a cool one. It reminds me of shells and pearls.

Assembly New York: I have seen eyes on nails in the past, but I had never seen eye-lashes on nails! This was the most creative one (and probably the coolest too).

Alice and Olivia: I don't know why I never thought about this before...

I will probably be trying all these designs in all the colors, shapes and forms.

Do you have any favorites?

F/W '13 NYFW, part 1

I have collected way too many pictures for this post, so I will keep the talk short.

The following are my favorite designs (so far) from the Fall/Winter '13 collections during NYFW. I have organized them by designers to make it a little easier to follow.

Alexander Wang

Altuzarra

Jason Wu

Lacoste:
I have to say I don't usually like Lacoste designs, but for some reason they decided to come up with new things... and I'm loving it!

Prabal Gurung

Rag and Bone

Suno

I am in love with the shapes of the coats and jackets. The bigger the better!

Can't wait to see the rest of the designs this week. Do you have any other favorites, besides the ones I posted?

silver on grey

If you follow me on Instagram (which I highly encourage you to do;)), this nail design must be old news to you. These were my nails last week and wanted to share them with you because I thought they were also really easy to do.

I only used one nail color (Cream Soda by Ciaté), two studs, nail foil and an orange-red color to draw a cross on my index finger. If drawing the cross is too hard for you, you don't really need to do it. I'd say that the nail foil on its own looks cool enough.

These were all the materials I used on my nails:

I actually love how they turned out.

Let me know what you think!

mentirosas

So, I think I discovered my new favorite store (or at least one of them). I don't think I have mentioned this before, but, I LOVE online shopping. I don't just like it. I love it.

I prefer shopping in online stores about 99.99% of my shopping time!

Anyway, enough talk. I just wanted to make a quick post and show you guys some of their awesomeness. The store is called Mentirosas (which was what caught my attention at first), Spanish word for liars (in feminine).

The brand makes very unique and uncommon, but still super cool and trendy, urban pieces. I want everything in the store. I think I need to stop going on it every single day...

These are some pictures I was able to save from their website (which you can check out here).

I love the mix of materials, lines and shapes. If you want to see more pictures and videos from their store, you can also check out their Storyboard here.

I hope you like their website. The store is only one year old, so it could be one of those hidden jewels that you don't want to tell your friends about ;)

one color is not enough

I am currently (and have been for several months already) obsessed with wearing studs on my nails. I guess I always have been, but never as much as I am now. I would say that most (if not all) of my nail designs for the past four months have included studs in them. They are like the cherry on top. For some reason, I feel like my nails are missing something when I finish painting them and don't add a stud of some sort to at least one of my nails.

Some of you commented on my last nail post saying that most of the nail designs I did were too hard, so I went ahead and chose to post this one (after receiving more than a few compliments by random people). It is super easy, super cute, and super quick to do! You don't need to have the best pulse and/or drawing skills and I think they have that badass factor to them.

These were all the nail polishes I used (in order), and the studs which I just added at the end, before applying the top coat.

I hope you like this simple design and try it on yourself!
